XMRig 6.26.0, published on March 28, 2026, remains the latest upstream release at our November 2 check. Its current relevance to Monero testing comes from P2Pool’s October beta, which requires this version or newer for the FCMP++ and Carrot stressnet.
The release adds RandomX v2 support. It also introduces VAES-512 support for AMD Zen 5, expands vector and hardware AES use on RISC-V, and includes ARM64 fixes. Other changes address connection keepalive timing, an OpenCL address-space mismatch and nonce handling during donation rounds.
Where RandomX v2 testing fits
P2Pool 5.0-beta supplies the test environment described in its release instructions. That environment uses a beta daemon and a testnet wallet. The maintainer asks miners to limit testing to one CPU thread, and the coins earned there have no mainnet value. Support in mining software does not by itself activate a Monero consensus change. For this test, follow the beta network’s instructions and keep its wallet and daemon separate from your usual mining setup.

The upstream release provides platform-specific archives, SHA256 checksums and a signature for the checksum list. Choose the build for your operating system and processor, then verify it before replacing your existing miner. Our PGP guide explains the verification steps.
The release notes list processor-specific changes, but provide no universal hashrate increase. Compare performance on your own hardware under the same settings before treating an upgrade as a speed improvement.
